Quick answer
Use sand dollar coasters as both functional drink coasters for parties and decorative accents for coastal table settings at your beach wedding.
Why choose sand dollar coasters for a beach wedding
Sand dollar coasters bring a natural, beachy feel to any table without being overly themed. Their stone material adds weight and stability, so they stay put even on breezy outdoor tables. The sand dollar design is subtle enough to complement other coastal elements like shells, driftwood, or sea glass.
One practical trade-off: stone coasters can be heavier than paper or cork ones, so factor in shipping weight if ordering for a destination wedding. Also, their surface is slightly porous; test with a clear sealer if you plan to use them for hot drinks.
How to use sand dollar coasters in your beach wedding decor
- Set the tables with a coastal tablescape: Place one sand dollar coaster at each seat as part of the place setting. Layer it on top of a linen napkin or a small piece of driftwood for added texture. Pair with neutral dinnerware and a simple centerpiece of shells or candles. Common mistake: overcrowding the table. Let the coaster be a subtle accent, not the focal point.
- Use as functional drink coasters for the bar or reception: Arrange the coasters near drink stations or on guest tables to protect surfaces from condensation. Because the stone is absorbent, wipe them dry after each use to prevent water rings from forming on the coaster itself. Checkpoint: test one coaster with a cold drink beforehand to see how it handles moisture.
- Repurpose as wedding favors or place card holders: Tie a small tag with each guest's name around the coaster with natural twine, or stack them at each place setting with a thank-you note. Guests take home a usable keepsake that reminds them of the beach setting. Common mistake: forgetting to include care instructions. Add a small card noting that the stone may vary slightly in color and should be hand washed.
